Denver weather: 14-year-old record high in danger of being broken Thursday
The mercury hasn’t pushed above 90 on today’s date since 2010, however, it could either tie or break the record high of 90 Thursday for Denver.
Denver residents can expect sunny skies, with a high near 91, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Calm winds will become north northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
Not only will it be hot, it will dry too with relative humidity levels being in the teens throughout the afternoon.
“Near record to record temperatures are possible this afternoon across the Denver metro and portions of the plains, with high temperatures climbing into the upper 80s to low 90s,” the NWS said.
Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 61. East northeast winds will blow around 6 mph becoming light and variable.
The ample sunshine and heat hangs around heading into the weekend, with another 90 degree high coming on Sunday. The record high for Sunday’s date is 92 set back in 1892.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Light and variable wind becoming east southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 90.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
