Denver weather: Snowy conditions Monday, cold temps too

Denverites and Front Rangers will experience cold temperatures and bouts of snow Monday as 2024 finally delivers winter conditions to the Mile High City.
Denver residents can expect snow, mainly before 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder, then patchy blowing snow after 11 a.m. A high near 28 with blustery, north winds between 20 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m., Monday for the Interstate 25 corridor Highlands Ranch in the south to Longmont in the north and Golden in the west to Deer Trail in the east.
Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 14. Blustery, with a north wind 13 to 18 mph becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

In 1937: Cold Arctic air plunged temperatures below zero for an estimated 56 consecutuve hours. Two temperature records were set. High temperatures of 8 degrees below zero on the 7th and 3 degrees on the 8th were record low maximum readings for those dates. Low temperatures plunged to 12 degrees below zero on the 7th and 11 degrees below zero on the 8th. Snowfall was 1.4 inches in downtown Denver.
