Boy charged with murder in fatal Adams County shooting
The shooting happened late Saturday in Rotella Park
A boy was charged with murder Friday in connection with a shooting that killed a teen and injured another person last week in Adams County.
The boy, who was under the age of 13 years old, was charged in juvenile court with first-degree murder — extreme indifference, first-degree assault — extreme indifference, possession of a handgun by a juvenile and aggravated juvenile offender, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s office.
The boy’s name and details of the case were not released due to the boy’s age, prosecutors said.
The charges stem from a shooting late Saturday, Oct. 12, at Rotella Park in unincorporated Adams County, just south of Thornton. A 15-year-old was killed after shots were fired at a group of about seven juveniles, authorities said. The teen was shot in the neck and died at the scene, police said.
A second victim suffered an injury in the shooting but survived, police said.
